my xmas pressies

Its a year of pleasant surprises. here are some highlights of what i got from my fellow friends and colleagues.
A "too big cum too pretty cum too cute" handphone strap from a colleague. After just hours of using it, the "hanger" came off. Its now in my drawer.... starting to collect dust.

A gift from TONY.. As the box describes, its a equipment that helps the owner to understand the dog language. sound so interesting and innovative huh. I have not tried this yet but its supposed to be able to interpret barks, etc.

An australian x'mas socks filled with goodies like chocolate, chewy, lollies and nescafe cafe menu coffees.

We Once Were You And Me

It's not that I am not over you. I have been healthily over you for some years now.

I once loved you. That love lasted forever.

Forever came and went in six years, and I spent a little while trying to trace where I left from. Then I forgot. Then you texted me one fine afternoon (that wasnt a surprise sms, we had been on constant contac but we have not seen each other) and asked if I was available on that day, and for the first time in some years, I looked back and I saw where I came from.

You once loved me. Your love lasted forever.

The push and pull has not stopped since we met up. But it doesn't jolt me, it lulls. We might have been you and me once.

And what wounds time heals, what kisses time also conceals.

FLY AWAY

I simply love this song. its great... jus listen.

night safari

after the company xmas dinner @ the Vil'lage, my colleagues and I head down to the NIGHT SAFARI.

Thank God for supporting our "virgin" trip (except for sharon. she's a frequent guest there!) to this toursit attraction. He blessed us with a cooling weather.

The ngiht safari will close at 12 midnight thus we were running against time to complete the whole place. We caught the animal show (its very entertaining), took the tram (we came up close and personal with many animals like ant eater, deers) and walked through the fishcat & leopard trail. Too bad, we did not have time to finish two other trails.

A morning with Y STARS

What does YSTARS stands for? its means Y Special Teens, Arts & Recreation Society". It's a small group of young people who are intellectually challenged.

The theme for this programme was "Xmas tree Decoration". Its my (and many other volunteers) 1st time getting so close with intellectually disabled youth. Honestly, I was alittle afraid.. Yes, the fear of not being able to handle them, the fear of not being able to talk to them. Luckily the staff and parents were helpful, they briefed us on the "dos and donts" and what to expect.

Suddenly, I heard a loud "pong, pong, pong!". Its a normal looking girl, aged 9. However, she was deprived of oxygen during birth thus her brain is damaged. She could not speak but I can see that she looked forward to this "gathering". Next came Ben. He was really funny. He introduced himself as Aaron Kwok and imitated his singing and dance steps. Next came (erm.. I forget his name), he introduce himself as JJ. Most of them (with an average IQ of 60 to 70) enjoy singing and dancing; and they do not seem to have stage fright (though there isnt a stage, virtually)!

On my table, there were 5 volunteers to 2 YStars. 1 is Ben and the other is Stephanie. Stephanie is much more quiet and very deep in thoughts. Not to intimate them, we kicked off with the easiest xmas decoration: the making of the ball. We get them to chose their colours and started painting. However after this, they were not interested in making the rest, they wanted to draw and write. We respected them. On the paper, they wrote about their hobbies and what they like. Though they got some spelling mistakes, we could understand what they were trying to say.

Its time to hang the ornaments (though most of them were made by the volunteers).

We moved on to xmas carols! the Ystars were clapping and "la-la-ing" while we, volunteers, sing. They were spontaneous.

Even its only a 2 hours session, I really enjoyed it. It made me realised that if there is hope, anything is possible. I will sure go for my 2nd round!
